Former U.S. Congressman Tom Suozzi lost Republican Maj Pilip entered the special election to fill the vacancy created by the expulsion of Republican George Santos from the House last year.
Mr. Santos was ousted from the House less than a year into his first-year term, when 105 Republicans joined 206 Democrats. Vote I agree with expulsion. In addition to 112 Republicans, two Democrats voted against expulsion. Two Democrats voted present.
Democrats now control the seat thanks to Suozzi’s special election victory.
“So does anyone still think it’s a good idea for Republicans to help Democrats oust Santos?” Republican Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia tweeted.
Suozzi used to provided Served as a member of the House of Representatives from early 2017 to early 2023. execution failed in the 2022 New York Democratic gubernatorial primary.
Pilip is Nassau County Legislator.
