Tommy DeVito Moves On from Giants to Patriots

Tommy DeVito has made the decision to leave the New York Giants, as he was recently cut and subsequently claimed by the New England Patriots.

Reflecting on his time with the Giants, he shared, “My journey with the New York Giants was more than football. It was a fulfillment of family, community, and dreams for a Jersey child.” He added that he feels grateful for the support from the organizations and fans, stating, “New York is always at home.” A nostalgic tone accompanied his goodbye video, set to Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”

Looking ahead, DeVito is set to become the third-string quarterback in New England, positioned behind starter Drake Maye and veteran Josh Dobbs.

The Giants have opted for Russell Wilson as their starter, backed by veteran Jamaice Winston, alongside rookie Jackson Dirt. DeVito’s tenure with the Giants, while marked by struggles, left a memorable imprint on both him and the fans.

During the past two seasons, the Giants have seen a disappointing record of 9-25, which is among the lowest in the NFL, just above the Patriots, who sit at 8-26.

DeVito, who attended Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, had some notable moments with the Giants, earning a 3-5 record through eight career starts. One highlight was a thrilling 24-22 comeback victory against the Packers on December 11, 2023, during “Monday Night Football.”

The Patriots don’t expect DeVito to see much action unless absolutely necessary, but they are hopeful he’ll provide reliable depth if needed.

As New England looks to secure the division title, they envision Maye as their franchise quarterback moving forward.
