Tommy Dreamer cautions fans about potential violence at the ACW Indypendence Day match

Tommy Dreamer Returns to the Ring with a Warning

Pro wrestling icon Tommy Dreamer is gearing up for a match against Josh Sharnoff at Awesome Championship Wrestling (ACW), and he’s not holding back. As he prepares for a Lumberjack match that will also feature the tag teams of The Now and Saint 2 Slaughter, Dreamer has issued a stark warning to fans about the intensity they might encounter.

The rivalry among these six competitors runs deep. Just earlier this year, Sharnoff got the upper hand on Dreamer during a six-man tag team bout at the Poughkeepsie Rumble. Then, leading up to their scheduled match at ACW Independence Day this Saturday, tensions escalated further after a chaotic steel cage encounter in May.

Dreamer expressed concerns about what fans can expect at the MJN Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. He stated, “Some people might see a level of violence they’re not used to.” He went on to reflect on the dynamics of wrestling, admitting he underestimated Sharnoff’s abilities and noted his own absence from previous shows might have given Sharnoff the confidence to challenge him.

“I’m not running away anymore; I plan on facing him directly. I intend to show him why I’m known for my particular style, especially in this venue,” Dreamer said regretfully, acknowledging that some fans might find the situation too intense.

The stakes recently soared after a disturbing incident at Reckoning, where fellow wrestlers Sean Donovan and Danny Muff attacked Vic Dalicious, while Hale Collins was restrained outside the ring. The altercation led to Dalicious being hospitalized, highlighting the serious nature of interactions that can sometimes transcend mere entertainment.

Dreamer elaborated, “Seeing my friends get hurt affects me in ways I didn’t anticipate. Back in my younger days, we didn’t think much about the repercussions of our actions.” He reflected on how those witnessing the chaos—especially family members—might feel. It’s a different world now, he admits, as he continues to reconcile his experiences in wrestling with the realities he faces today.

As anticipation builds for Saturday’s match, Dreamer is thrilled to step back into the MJN Center. He shared, “Wrestling has been my life for 37 years. There are days when I honestly can’t believe I’m still doing this.” Recalling his history with the venue, Dreamer reminisced about performing alongside notable figures and experiencing unforgettable moments, including significant events during his wrestling career.

With ACW’s Independence Day event set for Saturday at 6:30 PM ET, Dreamer appears eager to reignite the fierce competition and camaraderie that wrestling brings to him and his fans. As he puts it, the community support has been essential during challenging times, and he’s ready to deliver an unforgettable experience at the ring.
