Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has declared he has his “life back” after successful hand surgery to treat Dupuytren’s contracture and carpal tunnel syndrome.
The 61-year-old musician recently revealed that he underwent surgery on his right hand after facing two “debilitating problems” that affected his ability to perform and daily life. Lee shared the news in an Instagram post along with several photos of his raw hand taken during and after his surgery.
“Guys, it’s time…I hope this doesn’t ruin your lunch,” Lee warned her followers at the beginning of her caption.

He continued, “Just 3 weeks ago I had hand surgery by @drcohenhandsurgeon. He addressed two debilitating issues for me as a drummer, keyboard player, and just about everything regarding my right hand. He did it,” he continued.

“And yesterday was a tear-jerking, monumental day for me…I got my life and my money back back,” Lee added. “Drummers and musicians, I can tell you it’s fixable!”
The three-time Grammy Award winner also included a video of himself spinning drumsticks in the post.

“I can spin the stick again…Dupitren’s contracture and carpal tunnel issues have kept me from doing so for the past few years, but now I’m done!” he wrote. Ta. “I am forever grateful to @drcohenhandsurgeon and his staff.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, Dupitren’s contracture is “the gradual thickening and hardening of the tissue under the skin of the hand.” This condition may cause one or more fingers to bend toward the palm and be unable to straighten.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition caused by compression of the nerves in the wrist. According to the Cleveland Clinic, common symptoms include wrist pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness.
Lee’s post was flooded with supportive comments from friends, family and fans, as well as complaints about the images he shared.

“Yay,” Lee’s wife Brittany Furlan commented, along with a series of black heart emojis.
“Yahoo for you,” Lee’s ex-wife Heather Locklear wrote. She later added, “Happy for both of you, barf,” along with an emoji of her sick face.
Lee’s Mötley Crüe bandmate John 5 commented: “So happy and proud of you.”

Former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum said: “Dear brother, Dr. Cohen also operated on my hand. After breaking my finger, everything is as good as new and strong. I’m grateful,” he added.

Dr. Glenn Cohen, who performed the surgery, praised Lee, writing, “You worked hard and followed all instructions meticulously!”
He continued, “You’re crushing it, and it’s only going to get better. 3 weeks is so fast for major hand surgery!! Watching that hand do its best with loud I’m looking forward to it!”

Lee co-founded Mötley Crüe with Nikki Sixx and Greg Leon in early 1980, and lead singer Vince Neil and guitarist Mick Mars joined them a few months later. The band, currently consisting of Lee, John 5, Sixx, and Neil, completed a world tour with Def Leppard in November.
Mötley Crüe will return to the road in the spring, with their next show scheduled for May 24th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The band will also perform at the Louder Than Life Festival, Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Iowa State Fair, and the Minnesota State Fair.
