State Department Revokes Over 175,000 Visas
More than 175,000 visas have been canceled by the State Department, according to spokesperson Tommy Piggott during a recent appearance on *Breitbart News Daily*.
Piggott shared that this action stems from three main categories: violations of visa conditions, legal infractions, or threats to national security. He highlighted that criminal conduct, particularly offenses like assault, has played a significant role in these revocations.
“Criminal activity is the biggest reason for these cancellations,” he noted. Among the frequent offenses resulting in visa issues are DUI, assault, and theft.
As for context, he pointed out that the number of visa cancellations has increased from over 100,000 in December to more than 175,000 now, suggesting that the ongoing review of visa holders is indeed necessary.
Piggott emphasized their commitment to ensuring compliance with the stated standards. When questioned about what might have happened under Democratic leadership regarding criminal visa holders, he simply stated: “Nothing.”
He elaborated that cases often go through the Department of Justice, where individuals involved may serve prison sentences and, in some situations, return to the U.S. on a visa, which he finds quite surprising. He referenced the case of a Lao man who received a pardon in Minnesota, demonstrating potential flaws in the process.
“A notable instance we’ve discussed before involves a Laotian national who was pardoned to avoid deportation amidst legal delays. Ultimately, his visa was revoked and he was deported,” Piggott explained.
He concluded that policy is determined on a case-by-case basis, indicating a common-sense approach: “If someone is engaging in criminal activity, we have no obligation to allow them into the country.”
