Professional golfer Brian Harman recently sparked conversation online after revealing a detailed list of 25 criteria for anyone looking to date his daughter during a PGA Tour interview on Saturday.
Among the listed skills, there were practical blue-collar tasks, such as changing a tire or oil, as well as the ability to start a fire whether indoors or outdoors. Additionally, one requirement was knowing how to throw a football with a proper spiral and catch it from a distance of 20 yards.
Some of the items on the list seemed focused on basic social etiquette, like writing thank-you notes or delivering wedding speeches. One expectation included the capability to back a car into a tight parking spot. Another pointed out the importance of understanding how to handle a trailer.
In a related post, former investment banker John Lefebvre shared his own 15 conditions for dating his daughter.
Conditions for dating your daughter:
1. Draw a soccer spiral or swing a golf club skillfully
2. Tie proper knots and remove hats indoors
3. Change tires, replace batteries, and back up your trailer without YouTube tutorials.
4. Work even if your parents are wealthy…

Some users on social media shared their thoughts about both Harman’s and Lefebvre’s lists. A few believed the requirements were excessive, arguing that a father shouldn’t dictate terms like that. Others found it hard to take the lists seriously due to the individuals behind them.
One commenter noted, “It’s tough to view a guy as a real man when he struggles so much with a routine putt.” Another remarked, “With these demands, your daughter will likely start dating right after your funeral.”
One person echoed that perhaps the only real requirement should be fulfilling the daughter’s own standards for a partner.
Several users expressed support for Harman’s perspective, with one saying, “I never imagined he’d become my favorite golfer.”
