Caleb Williams will likely be the first player selected in the NFL Draft later this month when the Chicago Bears officially enter.
The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner has been getting a lot of attention since his final year at the University of Southern California, but he’s gotten even more attention from former University of Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy, who said the star quarterback has “adversity.” “I’ve never experienced that,” he said, adding that he doubted Williams could win. He continues to play soccer despite having a “scar on his shoulder.”

Mr. Williams fired back at Mr. McElroy in the X post.
“Let’s go back to school,” he wrote, “because I’m bored (right now).”
He then detailed how his college career went. He was a backup to Spencer Rattler to start his freshman season at Oklahoma. He transferred to USC after Lincoln Riley took over and became one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Williams wrote that he “popped” his hamstring during the 2022 Pac-12 Championship and the team lost.
He added that his final season at USC was 7-5.

Spencer Rattler reveals team had to be ‘maximum prepared’ in meeting
Williams threw for 10,082 yards and 93 touchdowns in three seasons in college.
Bears general manager Ryan Pauls was asked last month about the feedback he received regarding Williams.
“When you talk to his teammates, they don’t like him, they love him,” the Pole said. The Athletic. “His leadership, how he brings people together. He’s intentional about his leadership, and the same goes for his staff.
“It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t like or love him.”

Chicago traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the offseason, seemingly paving the way for the team to select Williams. Jaden Daniels, Drake Maye, and JJ McCarthy are some of the other targets.
