Top Trump adviser says Putin open to ‘permanent peace’ with Ukraine after ‘compelling’ talks with Russian leader

President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkov, said his high-stakes talks with Vladimir Putin were “persuasive” and argued that Russian leaders were open to “permanent peace” deals with Ukraine.

Witkov sat with Putin in St. Petersburg last Friday.

“I think we may be on a crisis of something very important to the world as a whole,” Witkoff told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday, adding, “It took me a while to get there.”

Witkoff said he saw a “emerging” deal after five hours of consultation.

He added that he saw “the possibility of restructuring unified national relations with Russia through highly attractive commercial opportunities that we believe will bring true stability to the region.”

It comes after Trump suggested that Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky raised his hand to launch a conflict after Russia described the attack on Ukraine as the “Biden War” on Monday.

“The war between Russia and Ukraine is not my war, it’s Biden’s war. I’ve just come here and for four years during my term I had no problem making sure it didn’t happen,” he posted about the true society.

“President Putin and everyone else respect your president! I had nothing to do with this war, but I am working diligently to stop death and destruction.”
