Trader Joe asks its customers to throw away certain frozen products rather than fear that it may contain plastic.
The beloved grocery store chain announced its recall on February 14th.
In a statement on the website, Trader Joe's customers advised customers to dispose of Trader Joe's organic acai bowl, regardless of the UPC code or the best date.
“From the abundant care, the product may contain foreign materials (plastics), so you can either dispose of Trader Joe's organic acai bowl or return a full refund to your local Trader Joe's store. You can,” the company said.
The supermarket chain did not disclose the reported injuries or how many product units were affected.
Trader Joe recalled products in the past surrounding plastic pollution.
Last year, the steamed chicken soup dumplings on the chains contain hard plastic from permanent marker pens, which reminded me of the fear of shocking the 61,839 pound frozen soup dumplings.
Trader Joe also recalled 653,000 candles with the scent of mango tangerine last August.
At the time, grocery stores said when the candle flame was illuminated, “spreading from the core to the wax, causing a flame that was greater than expected, poses a fire hazard.”
“If you purchase a candle with a mango tangerine scent, don't use it,” Trader Joe said in the recall announcement.
“We recommend discarding the product or returning it to Trader Joe for a full refund.”
