“Hundreds of Hezbollah members were seriously injured on Tuesday when a pager they were using to communicate exploded.” Written Yashar Ali of The Huffington Post and New York Magazine.

“This is a video of a pager exploding.”

According to CBN NewsHezbollah blamed Israel for the attack and vowed to take revenge, but Israel has not claimed responsibility and the United States has said it was unaware of it until it happened.

Hezbollah bought the pagers, reportedly manufactured in Hungary, after its leaders banned members from using mobile phones to avoid being tracked by Israeli intelligence.

“Israel likely saw an opportunity, bought thousands of pagers, disassembled them, planted explosives on them, put them back on the market and sold them directly to Hezbollah, then detonated them all at the same time, using the radio frequency that normally transmits data to the pagers,” retired US Marine Colonel Steve Ganiard told ABC News.

The explosion reportedly occurred around 3:30 pm on Tuesday in Beirut, eastern Lebanon and parts of Syria, cutting off Hezbollah communications and rendering thousands of operatives unable to operate.

Reports say The Daily WireThe incident comes after Hamas carried out a terror attack on Israel on October 7 that left 1,200 people dead and comes as Hezbollah has fired thousands of rockets, missiles and suicide drones at Israel over the past year.

Israeli intelligence said on Tuesday it had thwarted a Hezbollah plot to assassinate a former Israeli security official with a remote-controlled explosive device, reportedly due to be carried out within days.
