Train conductor charged with bullying a girl for seven years had just been recognized for bravery at work weeks before.

New Jersey Train Conductor Arrested for Years of Abuse

A train conductor from New Jersey was arrested in February, accused of abusing a girl over several years. New details have emerged about her escape.

Brandon Mosley, 41, was informed of allegations related to a fire on February 6 while working on a Septa train. He and his girlfriend were charged on May 11, facing accusations of torture and abuse toward an 11-year-old girl who is now 18.

Reports indicate that the girl was forced to live in dog crates for a year. At one point, the only facility she had was a bucket for waste in the couple’s unkempt home, as described by the Camden County Prosecutor.

The precise nature of the relationship between the girl and the pair wasn’t immediately clear. Mosley and his girlfriend, Brenda Spencer, 38, both from Gloucester, have been accused of inflicting physical and psychological harm on the girl. They allegedly fled to a neighbor’s house, where she received assistance to escape. Mosley is also accused of sexually abusing the child.

A neighbor mentioned, “She recently said they cut their hair and shaved their heads as punishment. We were all in tears—me and my son—[we] couldn’t believe it.”

The neighbor expressed horror at the situation, commenting, “It was disgraceful. Keeping her in a dog crate? That’s appalling.”

In a curious twist, these allegations came to light just weeks after Mosley had been praised for his bravery during a fire incident while working. In that case, he managed to evacuate 325 passengers and four crew members safely.

During that incident in February, he received recognition from Septa, which has now put him on leave following these serious allegations.

SEPTA did not respond to requests for comment. Mosley has worked in transportation for 18 years but now faces multiple serious charges, including first-degree assault and aggravated sexual assault.

A neighbor, Susan, expressed disbelief about the situation, saying, “I know them, and it’s hard to fathom that this was happening right next door.”
