Trans athlete misses California girls’ basketball game amid Trump admin probe, protests

The transgender basketball player was missing out on a women's playoff game in California on Saturday night, a week after national media attention and controversy.

The trans athletes led the San Francisco Waldorf women's basketball team to a playoff meeting with Cornerstone Christian School with a 9-8 record.

However, in the absence of trans athletes, San Francisco lost to Cornerstone 56-30.

No reason for the absence of athletes is given. Waldorf of San Francisco has not responded to a request for comment on Fox News Digital.

Several protesters attended a match on the Cornerstone campus on Saturday night, swinging their signs around with anti-trans messages.

However, these signs were not flying in the gym after protesters realized that the trans athletes weren't there, sources told Fox News Digital.

The athlete played for Waldorf women's volleyball team in the fall, prompting the playoff confiscation by Stoneridge Christians in November.

However, Cornerstone Christian vowed to compete in Saturday's match against Trans Player, which Fox News Digital first reported on Tuesday.

Additionally, the Inter-California Governance Federation (CIF) is under investigation by Trump's Department of Education (DOE) and the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) to ensure that trans athletes compete as women in violation of the president's executive order. I continue to instruct.

Candice Jackson, DOE's assistant general counsel, previously told Fox News Digital that he was monitoring the state's women's basketball playoffs while the department was conducting an investigation.

“CIF is responsible for setting the parameters that schools compete in these playoffs and being the recipient of federal funds compliant with Title IX. OCR's investigation into CIF says that CIF ignores Title IX. It continues because it seems,” Jackson said.

Trump's executive order would cut federal funding for agencies that allow trans athletes to compete with girls and women.

According to USA facts, California public schools receive around $16.8 billion a year. This is one for 13.9% or $7 public school funding.

The CIF has not responded to requests for comment regarding circumstances relating to upcoming playoff games.

The CIF previously told Fox News Digital that it has been following state laws that have been in effect on transathlete issues since 2014.

“CIF offers students the opportunity to belong to, connect and compete in education-based experiences complying with California law. [Education Code section 221.5. (f)] This will allow students to participate in school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions that match the student's gender identity, regardless of gender listed in the student's record,” the statement reads Masu.

The law, called AB 1266, has been in effect since 2014, and at the scholastic and university level, California students are “to participate in gender school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and to match their gender identity.” Gives the right to use the facility, regardless of the gender listed in the student's records.”

However, California lawmakers introduced several bills in 2025 to reverse the law.

California Rep. Kate Sanchez announced one such bill on January 7th, and then legislative member bill Essayli introduced a similar bill on February 14th.
