A girls high school basketball team withdrew from the game earlier this month after several girls were injured during a match against a male opponent who identifies as transgender.
Massachusetts Lowell College Charter School withdrew from its Feb. 8 game against KIPP Academy due to an injury to a third player. The decision to end the game was made by the team’s coach at halftime.
“Four players on the 12-man roster were unable to play, and the bench was already depleted entering the game,” the school’s press release said. “The coach saw three more girls go down in the first half, reducing the number of players to five, and ordered the game to end early.”
