Scott later walked into a New York police station and admitted to killing someone in an unrelated incident. He was found in possession of Robin Skodpol's credit card and investigators searched Skodpol's home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma after they could not contact him.

Authorities discovered that all property was missing from his home and there was a pool of blood inside. Skodpol's body was eventually found at the edge of a Broken Arrow creek in May 2020, according to federal prosecutors.

The last sighting was in August 2019. Scott had been renting a room from Skodpol, and in an attempt to explain the disappearance, she told everyone that her landlord had suddenly moved to Dallas for work.

The coroner's report said two different saws were used to cut Skodpol. After his arrest, Scott agreed to take the FBI to the location of Skocdpol's head, but no further remains were found, the Justice Department said.
