Transgender Teen Leads School to Its First Minnesota Softball Championship Appearance

The contentious trans pitcher played a pivotal role in helping a Minnesota high school softball team achieve its first state championship.

Trans athlete Melissa Rothenberger delivered an impressive performance on Wednesday as Champlin Park High, located in a suburb of Minneapolis, secured victory against White Bear Lake High, achieving two double hits and pitching the entire game without a substitute.

Champlin Park will be heading to the Group 4A State Championship on Friday, marking a historic moment for the school.

Coach Brian Woodley praised Rothenberger, stating, “She’s always clutch. I think she’s the best center fielder in the state. Just an incredible all-around player.”

Rothenberger has been a dominant presence in Minnesota softball all season, significantly contributing to Champlin Park High’s success and helping the team move past its previous challenges.

However, not everyone shared the same enthusiasm for Rothenberger’s performance.

A father of two girls on the White Bear Lake team expressed frustration, noting their discontent at competing against athletes who identify as girls but are taller, stronger, and faster.

After the loss, one girl from White Bear High was reportedly in tears, questioning her father.

One father mentioned he was reconsidering his political affiliations after Minnesota lawmakers decided that boys should be permitted to compete in women’s sports.

“You’re looking at the entire team of future Republicans,” he lamented.

The Minnesota State High School League continues to permit boys who identify as girls to participate in women’s sports, reportedly contravening federal Title IX rules established during the Trump administration.

The Trump administration is currently contemplating its response to states that permit trans athletes to compete as women, including Minnesota, California, and Maine among others.
