Last year, a large transvestite brutally murdered a beloved Portland taxi driver in an unprovoked Easter Sunday attack.
Even though Moses Lopez refused to take responsibility for the bloodshed and claimed to be the victim, Multnomah County’s leftist District Attorney Mike Schmidt this week reduced the murder charge to manslaughter. He was able to avoid a heavier sentence by approving a plea bargain.

Despite the miscommunication, Mr. Lawhon, a Texan who has been with the company for 10 years, realized his mistake, turned around under a freeway overpass and began to correct course.

Lopez was arrested a short time later, with the victim still covered in blood.
First responders reportedly witnessed Lopez “drop the bladed brass knuckles on the ground.”
The victim’s mother, Ginger Lawhon, was the last person to speak to the victim, KATU reported.
“He called back and said he was at work and would come visit later. He never called back,” Ginger Lawhon said. “The world itself has been transformed and is becoming scarier.”
In a statement when Radio Cab learned of the gruesome murder, it said Mr Lawhon was a “wonderful person who came to work on Easter Sunday expecting a great shift”.
unrepentant murderer
Lopez was initially charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He is also charged in a separate case with threatening two Bi-Mart employees, and missed his first court date on that charge.
Under a sweetheart plea agreement approved by Multnomah County Prosecutor Mike Schmidt, Lopez pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon. He also saw other cases dismissed outright pursuant to the terms of the agreement.
In a statement, the victim’s sisters said they took the plea deal solely to prevent their elderly parents from reliving the horrors Lopez inflicted on their son, KATU reported.
Claire Pearce, one of the victim’s sisters, said: “I hope she’s not, assuming she’s still alive when Moses is released in 20 years, but what happens next? “I look forward to testifying against her, whether she commits a stupid crime or not, because that’s what she does.”
“We tell our kids over and over again that monsters aren’t under the bed or in the closet, but that’s a lie,” Pierce said in court Wednesday. “Moses Lopez is a monster and always will be a monster.”
Lopez grinned when Pierce described him as a monster, The Oregonian reported.
Lopez appeared in court as a victim, claiming that on the night he massacred Lawhon, he lost his debit card, had to listen to static on a dispatcher’s radio, and was not taken directly to his desired destination. I tried.
Lopez also suggested that he feared for his safety because he was cross-dressing in a predominantly leftist city.
The killer, who walked around with bladed brass knuckles, said: “I ended up in a very scary part of town and it was really scary.” “I’m not going to apologize for not getting the help that I so desperately needed.”
After shifting the blame, the perpetrator told Lawhon’s grieving family, “I want you to know that I accept your feelings.”
“The excuse given in court today was [Lopez’s] The actions are disgraceful,” Mr Campbell said, stressing that Mr Lawhon would have simply helped the cross-dresser if asked, rather than being brutally stabbed to death.
“In our opinion, she is a homicidal psychopath and should never be released again,” Campbell continued. “Unfortunately, Radio Cab management who had to watch the video of Reece Lawhon’s murder are traumatized, and I am one of them.”
A Multnomah County Circuit Court judge ultimately sentenced Lopez to 22 years in state prison Wednesday.
In a statement, the prosecutor’s office said: “The prosecutor’s office would like to thank Detective Shea Zamora of PPB and the police officers who assisted in this case. The staff of the prosecutor’s office would also like to thank the victim’s family, friends and colleagues at Radio Taxi. We hope that today’s incident will be resolved.” The sentence will bring some closure and allow the healing process to continue. ”
