The eighth and final PGA Tour Signature Event is a birdie fest at the Travelers Championship. Round 2recording 297 birdies and 10 eagles.
The conditions are ideal at TPC River Highlands, drawing golfers itching to hit a low score.
It is one of five no-cut tournaments and some of the top-ranked golfers in the world take advantage of it and play there.
The U.S. Open and Memorial Tournament are events that feature the best players, so seeing the shortest courses on the PGA Tour schedule will likely be a welcome sight for the 70 players competing.
Thirty players shot 67 or better on Friday, and just 13 were better than par.
Shane Lowry and Robert McIntyre shot the lowest score of the day, eight-under 62.

Collin Morikawa shot a bogey-free 7-under 63, with six birdies for a 29-stroke lead. The two-time major champion added his seventh birdie on the 16th hole.
“It’s been solid. I didn’t make many mistakes and when I missed the green, at least I was able to get par without stress and had good chances for par,” Morikawa said. “My shots are flying the way I want them to.” [I’m] Hitting the ball down the fairway is the key here, especially with the rough. We’ve got to keep doing that for the next two holes.”
Tom Hogue and Justin Thomas also shot 7-under 63. Five players shot 6-under 64, including Scottie Scheffler, Sung-jae Lim and Michael Thorbjornsen, who made his PGA Tour debut this week.
Tom Kim, who was celebrating his birthday, took the lead by two strokes but followed up his 62 on Thursday with a five-under 65.
Joining Kim in shooting 65 on Friday were Akshay Bhatia, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Brendon Todd, Mathieu Pavon, Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Gottterup. Friday’s 65 marked Schauffele’s second consecutive round of 65.
Cameron Young shot a 4-under 66 to move to 2-under total. Eleven players finished Friday’s round with a 3-under 67.
The second round of the Travelers Championship saw players score another 32 birdies and three eagles. A rain delay halted play, but all players finished before dark. Maybe the added moisture on the course made it easier to play?
If the scores stay the same, they could break the 54- and 72-hole records set last year by Keegan Bradley. How low will Sunday’s final score be? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
