Travis Kelce Addresses Interaction with Coach Andy Reid
Travis Kelce wants to clarify that there’s no tension between him and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, despite a heated moment during Sunday’s game.
The 35-year-old tight end emphasized that their exchange during the 22-9 win over the Giants wasn’t a significant issue, noting they both understand each other’s intentions.
“I really respect that guy,” Kelce shared in a recent statement. “I mean, nothing that happens outside of this building changes that for me. We know what we’re trying to accomplish, and I think coaches play a crucial role in pushing players to be their best.”
Kelce appreciated Reid’s approach, suggesting it has elevated his performance on the field.
Earlier in the game, TV cameras caught the two interacting on the sidelines, where Reid demonstrated his passion, particularly while addressing his star players.
Reid later commented on the incident, expressing his admiration for Kelce’s intensity. He mentioned that he was “fine” with the exchange, recognizing Kelce’s ability to gauge when to dial it back or push harder.
“Travis has this passion I love,” Reid said. “It’s part of what makes him special, though sometimes I find myself playing the role of the enforcer. He’s a very emotional guy.”
Kelce believes fans should interpret the incident based on how the head coach perceived it.
“Honestly, I think there’s no real issue here,” he said, adding that the Chiefs, despite their 1-2 record, are in a “great position.”
He reiterated the importance of maintaining their focus and having a proactive attitude as they strive for improvement. “We only need to look at our potential; we might have been very close to a betterrecord,” Kelce noted. “We just have to make sure we’re consistent throughout the game.”
