Travis Kelce is set to change his appearance as training camp begins this summer.
The Chiefs will kick off mandatory minicamps next week, and according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Kelce’s appearance will be different this year.
Last season, he weighed in at £250 but missed the voluntary OTA. Interestingly, he was seen on Thursday at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals alongside his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, but is expected to hit the practice field on Tuesday.
“He’s going to show off a somewhat slimmer physique,” Fowler mentioned on “SportsCenter” Saturday morning.
“He told those close to him that he’s dropped about 25 pounds in the offseason. He felt heavier during the last season. He’s committed to changing that.”
Fowler also noted that this season might be Kelce’s “last dance.”
The Chiefs faced a tough loss against the Eagles in Super Bowl 2025, which has led to speculation about whether some tight ends, like Kelce, might consider retirement.
Although Kelce earned his 10th Pro Bowl selection in 2024, he recorded the lowest receiving yards of his career in a full season at 823.
On February 27, Kelce reached out to Pat McAfee.
“It’s definitely back,” he told McAfee, as stated in a segment aired on ESPN. “We’re in the best shape we’ve ever been and are determined to make a comeback after that last game and the way everyone was prepared to fight.”
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed uncertainty about Kelce’s future at the end of May, indicating that it’s hard to gauge his career trajectory from here.
“If this is indeed his last ride, that’s hard to say,” Mahomes told reporters. “The way he discusses football and his goals for improvement this year? He doesn’t seem like someone who’s done.”
The Chiefs are gearing up to defend their AFC title, starting against the Chargers in Brazil on September 5th.
