Travis Kelce’s frustration was evident on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch from Super Bowl LIX. During a broadcast, the Chiefs’ tight end was spotted expressing his displeasure, telling teammates he was “fed up” while banging his helmet on the ground. This happened following Patrick Mahomes’ rushing touchdown, but it wasn’t clear exactly what was bothering Kelce.
Unfortunately for Kelce, he then had a significant drop that resulted in an interception for the Eagles, who later converted the turnover into a touchdown on their next drive. Mahomes threw a pass to Kelce as he was making a cut across the field, but the ball went off his right hand, bouncing back into the hands of Eagles defender Andrew Mukuba. This mistake contributed to a 10-play, 59-yard scoring drive for the Eagles, making the score 20-17 in their favor by the end of the game.
Kelce ended the game leading his team with four receptions for 61 yards. Chiefs coach Andy Reid commented on Kelce’s emotional state during the game, noting that he always tries to energize his teammates. Mahomes also addressed the dropped pass, acknowledging that he might have released the throw a bit too early, trying to avoid the safety coverage.
The loss dropped the Chiefs to 0-2, which is a notable start for Mahomes. He reflected on the game, saying, “You just let the game get away. We played two good teams and made critical mistakes.” He remained hopeful about the season, pointing out that overcoming adversity is key to growth as a team.
Looking forward, Mahomes expressed excitement about the upcoming games, eager to see how the team can turn things around.
