Travis Kelce is well aware of the memes circulating online.
During the Chiefs’ thrilling 33-30 overtime victory against the Colts on Sunday night, Taylor Swift captured everyone’s attention. This happened right after Kelce scored a 13-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The NBC cameras quickly cut to Swift, who seemed to point to her wedding ring while exclaiming, “That’s my husband.”
Kelce, along with his brother Jason, discussed the social media frenzy surrounding that moment on their “New Heights” podcast released on Wednesday morning. They shared their favorite memes that had been circulating on X, and Travis reflected on his role in all of it.
He humorously stated, “Just doing my deed as a husband.” He added, “The internet is having a good ole time with this s—t.”
He seemed to take pride in making Swift happy, saying, “Proud wife, gotta make my girl proud.”
Some memes that really got a reaction from the two brothers included one about a husband’s success at the grocery store and another highlighting how a husband would like his wife to react when he fixes the WiFi with a simple unplugging. Both elicited laughs from Travis and Jason.
The Chiefs are off to a solid start this season with a record of 2-0, and Kelce appears to be rejuvenated after a less-than-stellar 2025 season, having accumulated 12 receptions for 172 yards and the one touchdown.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid even credited Swift for motivating Kelce, noting her attendance at both primetime home games this season. Reid referenced the concern that Kelce might not be in peak shape after their July wedding in a private ceremony at Madison Square Garden.
“Everybody questioned, with the wedding and all of that—‘would he be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time?’” Reid stated on Monday. “But he really works his rear end off, and I think Taylor, you’re putting on four-hour shows, you’ve got to work hard too. So, I’m sure she kicks him in the butt a little there too.”
The Chiefs will aim to maintain their undefeated streak when they face the struggling Dolphins, who are currently 0-2, in Miami on Sunday.
It’s uncertain if Swift will be there, as she has previously expressed concerns about attending away games due to security reasons and her hectic schedule.
