Travis Scott Joins “The Odyssey”

Travis Scott makes an unexpected appearance in a teaser for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, “The Odyssey.” The 34-year-old rapper’s clip, which lasts about a minute, premiered during Fox’s broadcast of the AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.

In the teaser, Scott portrays a character addressing a group of soldiers, including Tom Holland’s Telemachus and Jon Bernthal’s Menelaus. “War, men, tricks—tricks to break down the walls of Troy,” he declares, as footage depicting the Trojan War unfolds. “It burst into flames and screamed to the ground,” he adds.

Mixed reactions emerged on social media following the reveal of Scott’s role. One enthusiastic fan remarked, “Travis Scott is in ‘The Odyssey’ and he’s doing a speaking role?? Nolan, come on, that’s amazing.” Others, however, expressed skepticism, with one person tweeting, “Even I can’t defend Christopher Nolan’s decision to cast Travis Scott in ‘The Odyssey’…damn it.” Some criticized the casting as insincere, questioning what Scott’s involvement meant for the film’s integrity.

On the contrary, a segment of fans applauded Scott’s participation. “Why are you mad about Travis Scott being in ‘The Odyssey’?” one user asked, while another wrote, “Travis Scott in ‘The Odyssey’ is hilarious.” Some even suggested that they hoped to see Scott collaborate with Nolan again, just to provoke dissent on social media.

Scott has previously worked with Nolan, creating the theme song “THE PLAN” for the 2020 film “Tenet.” At that time, Nolan described Scott’s contribution as essential, saying his voice was the “final piece of a year-long puzzle.” Scott appreciated Nolan’s work as well, calling “Tenet” an exhilarating experience.

As for “The Odyssey,” it’s an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem detailing Odysseus’s ten-year journey following the Trojan War. The star-studded cast includes Holland, Bernthal, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and more. The film is set to hit theaters on July 17th.
