Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent announced Tuesday that the Trump administration has imposed sanctions on four individuals linked to fentanyl and Mexican cartel La Nueva Familia Michoacana (LNFM), which is linked to human trafficking.
“Today’s actions underscore our commitment to strengthening pressure on violent drug cartels like LNFM. LNFM continues to transport deadly fentanyl and other drugs, smuggling illegal aliens to the southwest border and attacking law enforcement,” Bescent said in writing. “The Trump administration will continue to use all the tools available to target cartels and other violent organizations that exploit our community and harm Americans.”
The Federal Ju Court in the Northern District of Georgia has also established a charge of cartel co-leaders, with the State Department offering rewards for information that leads to arrests and convictions. LNFM is designated as a foreign terrorist organization and a specially designated global terrorist.
