Treasury Secretary Bessent: US-Ukrainian economic deal is dead in the water

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traveled to Washington, D.C. on Friday to confirm the deal that would allow the US access to some of America's natural wealth in exchange for investment in the Reconstruction Fund, and the US economic presence that could be a deterrent to future attacks.

Following the intense exchange between President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in his oval office, Zelensky reportedly was told to leave the White House before signing the agreement. Trump It's attracting attention True socially, “He can come back when he is ready for peace.”

According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent, the so-called mineral trade (what he called a “general economic agreement”) has temporarily fallen off the table.

Bescent, Bescent, attended an unfortunate meeting with the Ukrainian president and his previous attempt to close deals.
I said Margaret Brennan of CBS News said, “It is impossible to enter into an economic contract without a peace agreement. Signqua for an economic contract is what Ukrainian leaders want a peace deal.”

Zelenskyy confirmed Wednesday that he failed to promote explicit security guarantees in transactions from the US.
It has been reported BBC.

“This is one of the biggest goals in diplomatic history.”

“I wanted to hand over a sentence for Ukraine's security assurance, and it's important that it's there,” Zelenskyy said.

“I want to find a NATO pass or something similar,” he continued, adding, “If we can't get security guarantees, there's no ceasefire and nothing will work.”

While Bescent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and others in the administration thought that they had made it clear to Ukrainian leaders that peace was a prerequisite for America's greater involvement and in itself a practical security guarantee, Zelensky raised questions about the value of diplomacy. Friday's meetingRussian President Vladimir Putin cites the possibility of violating the ceasefire.

The Treasury Secretary told Brennan that the initial plan would be for Zelensky to join around 16 individuals for lunch, where the contract is signed after a press conference at the Oval Office.

“We were already set up to sign the contract,” Bescent said. “President Zelensky abandoned the sequence.”

“Please tell me what's the most tragic part of this,” the Treasury Secretary continued. “President Trump's view on this economic arrangement was to further intertwin the Americans and Ukrainians and not show sunlight, showing Russian leaders that there was no sunlight.

Bescent suggested that if Zelensky had no desire to bring a peace agreement on his part, the economic contract would be dead underwater.

“I think we have to see if President Zelensky wants to proceed,” Bescent said. “If he wants to continue the fight, what use is there to have an economic agreement?”
