Tren de Aragua gang member, illegal Venezuelan migrant, arrested in Houston

A Torren de Aragua gang member and confirmed illegal alien was arrested and detained in Houston by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

ICE said Jorgenis Robertson Coba, 32, is in the country illegally from Venezuela and cooperated with Texas DPS along with Houston police in the investigation.

Torren de Aragua is a transnational gang based in Venezuela that operates drug and sex trafficking operations in the United States as well as Venezuela. There are reportedly about 5,000 members between Venezuela and the United States.

“Koba was arrested in late September after DPS special agents assigned to the Houston Texas Anti-Gang Center (TAG) were notified of a suspected TdA member residing in the Houston area. ,” Texas DPS said in a release. “The suspect, identified as Koba, was scheduled for an asylum hearing in Houston on October 7.”

Investigators said Coba was identified as a member of Torren de Aragua after his tattoos were found to be a known mark of the gang. His arm was tattooed with a pentagram crown, a clock and a rose.

Koba was initially wanted on suspicion of theft in Pearland, Texas, but was taken into custody “without incident.”

Local authorities across the country are facing a growing threat posed by Torren de Aragua regarding drug crimes, illegally owned firearms, theft and more. Torren de Aragua has been linked to crimes in Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin and Texas.

Coba is currently being held in the Brazoria County Jail.
