Trevor Bauer Pitches No-Hitter for Long Island Ducks
Trevor Bauer, a former Cy Young Award winner and MLB All-Star, achieved a no-hitter while playing for the independent Long Island Ducks, leading them to a 13-0 win against the Lancaster Stormers at Penn Medicine Park on Sunday afternoon.
This marked Bauer’s second start in the U.S. since 2021. During the scheduled doubleheader, he faced at least one battery in seven innings. He threw a total of 84 pitches, striking out seven batters and walking only one, narrowly missing a complete game.
Bauer celebrated a pivotal strikeout, marking only the third no-hitter in the history of the Ducks. In his first appearance for the Ducks on April 21, he showcased a commendable 1.64 ERA in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which collaborates closely with MLB.
While Stormers fans were present, many acknowledged the significance of Bauer’s performance as he dominated the hitters on the field. There were even cheers of his name, an indication of the recognition for his remarkable feat.
Postgame, Bauer not only made his mark in the Ducks’ record books but also engaged with fans by signing autographs and taking photos. He mentioned how excited he was to play in front of American fans again, expressing enthusiasm about being a part of the Ducks’ legacy.
Several former MLB stars, such as Dontrell Willis and Eric Gagne, have previously played for the Ducks. Bauer’s impressive performance caught the eye of AL team scouts who noted his potential to be a valuable asset.
Despite a drop in velocity from his prime years, his performance suggested he still has the ability to compete effectively. He pitched in Japan in 2023 and 2025, along with a stint in Mexico in 2024, achieving solid numbers—his best being a 2.48 ERA in Mexico.
It’s been nearly five years since he last played in an MLB game as the reigning Cy Young Award winner. His last appearance was marred by serious allegations leading to a suspension and complicated legal battles. Bauer maintains his innocence, settling some claims while challenging others.
One notable case involved Lindsey Hill, who initially accused him of abuse but later had to pay Bauer for violating their settlement terms. This ongoing saga illustrates the contentious backdrop surrounding Bauer, who expressed his intent to showcase growth and change in his future endeavors.
Bauer has called for MLB’s reevaluation of player treatment, questioning the criteria for being lifted from the ineligible list after observing the recent reinstatement of Pete Rose. While he continues to navigate these complexities, his focus remains on his performance and reestablishing himself in professional baseball.
