Ryan Garcia said he was “heading to rehab” after making racist and anti-Muslim comments about Black people and George Floyd.
Garcia posted a lengthy statement on Instagram apologising for his comments, saying he was “overly sensitive” when he reacted to words.
“I want to be clear: I have stood with the black community. I was subjected to racism from Tim Bradley on ESPN, who called me a zoo animal,” Garcia wrote. I typed it in and took a screenshot.

“And turn the other cheek, but I’m a racist because everyone was drunk and said the things that are always said, including black men…God knows my heart and I will protect black children until the day I die.”
Garcia was “against black-on-black crime,” but “they took everything out of context,” he said.
“Muslims included [sic] I am against pedophile activity in all religions [sic] And I can’t stand it.”
The post’s caption, however, was a bit more demure, saying that Garcia had “eliminated” the N-word from his vocabulary and “sincerely apologized.”[d] What if I hurt or upset someone?

“But my pain should be felt. Black and brown people have always stood together and always will. I may be a little lighter than you, but I love you and I love black children enough to have sex for them. I was actually against black-on-black crime. [sic] “Sorry,” he wrote.
Garcia later commented in his own post that he was “heading to rehab as well.”
“Plus it was a friend who asked me to say those words and pumped me up. No excuses, just saying,” he wrote. “Also my friends from high school @actually [sic] That’s what I’m saying. That’s how I was raised.”
In another post, Garcia wrote:Speaking in person[s] I hold Muslims in very high regard.“
After the virus incident, World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman announced at the X that Garcia had been expelled from the organization.
Garcia slammed X after receiving a one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance during his April bout against Devin Haney. Garcia tested positive for Ostarine, which is not a steroid but can stimulate muscle growth and is on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned substances list.
