Video footage showed Trudeau dancing at a Taylor Swift concert in Toronto on Friday night. During this time, riots broke out in the streets as individuals protested NATO's involvement in provoking the Russia-Ukraine war.
Palestinian flags were displayed as rioters torched cars, threw small explosive devices at police officers and burned an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
MP Don Stewart took to social media to slam Trudeau, slamming his Liberal policies for allowing illegal activities to go unchecked.
“Lawless protesters storm the skies over Montreal in a violent protest. The prime minister dances. This is the Canada built by the Liberal government. Law and order and security and the Canada we once knew and loved. Please bring back our streets and communities,” Stewart wrote in the X post.
The next day, Prime Minister Trudeau responded to the protests and “condemned” the violence.
“What we saw on the streets of Montreal last night was horrifying,” Trudeau said. “Anti-Semitism, intimidation and acts of violence must be condemned wherever they are seen.”
“The RCMP [Royal Canadian Mounted Police] We are in contact with local police. There must be consequences and the rioters will be held accountable,” he added.
In response, Pierre Poièvre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, slammed Trudeau.
“You pretend to be surprised. We are reaping what you sow,” Poilievre wrote in response to Trudeau's post. “This is what happens when a prime minister spends nine years promoting toxic woke identity politics, dividing and segmenting people by race, gender, vaccination status, religion, age, wealth, etc.”
“You opened your borders to terrorists and lawbreakers, and you called anyone who questioned that racist,” he continued. “You passed a law that released a violent criminal from prison within hours of his 80th arrest,” Poièvre continued.
“And while you were dancing, Montreal was burning. Let's not divide us anymore. Call an election now. We'll fire you, our civil rights, our We will take back our values, our lives, our freedoms and above all our country,” he added.
