DOI Critiques E&E News for Reporting on Trump Administration
The Department of the Interior (DOI) has criticized Energy and Climate Outlet E&E News, which is part of Politico, for its recent coverage of the Trump administration.
DOI spokesperson Charlotte Taylor described the outlet as “hopeless,” asserting that E&E News has consistently failed to report fairly on the administration’s efforts to streamline the federal bureaucracy.
“The department will not engage with outlets like E&E News, which mainly disseminate leaks from within the government,” Taylor stated. “Even a high school newspaper has a broader audience. E&E is missing the point that President Trump is working to enhance government efficiency, which has real impacts on Americans.”
E&E News, established during the Trump era, has published articles discussing various topics, including the administration’s approach to Juneteenth celebrations and staff changes within the DOI. While the outlet covers a broad spectrum of energy-related issues and environmental matters, it has been noted for its particular focus on climate change.
Interestingly, despite being part of larger media entities, E&E News maintains a “unique brand and product.” However, the outlet did not provide any comment regarding the DOI’s statements.
