Members of the Trump administration have been known for their trolling antics, while Democrats seem to be holding their ground without much humor.
Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, the White House has consistently pushed out memes portraying Democrats as favoring government shutdowns.
“You’re diving into a little bit of fun while negotiating honestly,” someone noted, which really captures the mood.
Recently, the White House briefing room featured a constant stream of video memes attacking Democrats, suggesting they focus on illegal foreign healthcare instead of paying federal workers.
Slogans like “Don’t be stupid, please fund the government,” were prominently displayed, particularly noticeable on the second day of a government shutdown.
This video loop furthers the Trump administration’s strategy of employing memes.
Earlier in the week, Trump shared a video featuring House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, edited with a photoshopped sombrero and a comically exaggerated mustache.
Jeffries, not amused, criticized the meme during an interview, branding it a “snarky video.” He added, “It’s a nasty video; we will keep revealing that prejudice won’t take you anywhere.”
Trump doubled down on the trolling, modifying the meme to include himself in the same sombrero and mustache, further mocking Jeffries.
During a press conference, Vice President JD Vance was asked about this meme and jokingly made a promise to Jeffries, saying, “I’m making this strict promise to you: if you help us reopen the government, the Sombrero meme will stop.”
Vance continued, stating, “I think it’s funny. The president’s joke, and we’re just having a good time.” He reinforced that “you’re plunging into a little bit of fun while negotiating honestly.”
