Trump Administration Dismisses Important Figure in Russiagate, Head Lawyer at NSA

Trump Administration Fires NSA Advisor

The Trump administration reportedly terminated April Falcon Dos, an advisor at the National Security Agency (NSA), on Friday. This decision followed an investigation that revealed she had previously participated in a team examining allegations related to President Donald Trump’s supposed collusion with Russia after the 2016 election.

The New York Times reported that the circumstances surrounding Doss’ firing were confirmed by several former officials on Tuesday.

Doss had been hired quietly by the NSA as general counsel in 2022. According to The Record, some sources worried that her appointment might raise alarms among Capitol Hill Republicans.

In early July, Daily Wire investigations revealed that Doss had been involved in supporting Senate Democrats’ inquiries into claims of Russian interference during the 2016 election. Doss reportedly had a significant role in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s investigation into the election.

The committee conducted numerous interviews to uncover any potential ties between Trump and Russia, with Doss serving as a senior advisor on the Democratic side of the investigation. According to Business Insider, she was brought on board for this investigation in 2017.

Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) expressed that her termination seemed to stem from a politically motivated campaign, rather than any legitimate concerns about her professionalism or actions. He indicated that experienced, nonpartisan experts like Doss are crucial to maintaining national security and countering real threats.

In a 2021 article for Just Security, Doss criticized the spread of conspiracy theories on social media. She also appeared to support Trump’s decision to suspend social media accounts following the January 6 events, highlighting a surge in conspiracy-driven narratives alongside anti-vaccination propaganda as part of a broader disinformation issue.

In another article, she contended that digital platforms often undermine civil rights, citing that platforms like Facebook could exacerbate structural racism. Furthermore, she pointed to the role of social media in spreading disinformation, particularly in the context of the 2016 election.

This termination comes on the heels of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) preparing to release documents from the Obama administration concerning the 2016 election, a situation described by Tulsi Gabbard as involving “manufactured and politicized intelligence reports.”

As of now, both the NSA and ODNI have not responded to requests for comments from various outlets.
