Trump Launches ‘Trump TV’ Amid Media Boycott
After several major TV networks chose to boycott White House functions in reaction to President Donald Trump banning journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico—citing accusations of ‘FAKE NEWS’—the Trump administration has introduced a new streaming service: Trump TV.
“All the top hits, wins, + more. Streaming 24/7 on your phone or tv,” the White House announced on X on Monday.
“24/7, updated in real time, with top past moments, announcements, and the latest and greatest from the administration all in one place,” they added in another post. “Not every big moment has made it on your tv, now it can.”
Described as “essential” viewing, Trump TV will feature events from the Trump administration that might not appear on mainstream news channels. Viewers can access a 24/7 live news feed via YouTube or directly on the White House website, where a scrolling ticker displays official updates beneath the stream.
This launch comes on the heels of a tumultuous weekend between Trump and the media, following his announcement last week that representatives from certain “fake news” outlets would be barred from the White House. Reporters from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico quickly learned their press passes had been revoked.
On Monday, those three networks collectively filed a lawsuit against the administration, contending in a 27-page document that allowing this to remain unchallenged could endanger press freedom and the public’s right to independent journalism without government interference.
Meanwhile, four major networks that distribute pool footage—NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox News—expressed support for CNN, the fifth member of the White House television pool, and announced they would halt their shared coverage of Trump until the ban was lifted.
“The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting,” stated the joint release from the five networks.
As a result, they opted not to broadcast the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Trump’s new White House helipad on Monday, although they did cover a news conference held later that day featuring New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D-N.Y.).
California Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) criticized the president’s initiative for launching a livestream. He remarked, “First, Trump banned independent news from the White House. Now, he’s launching what is quite literally state-run TV to try drowning out the fact that he and his corrupt administration are failing the American people. This is truly autocratic behavior from a failed President.”
