Trump Administration’s $13 Billion Fund Return
The Trump administration has noted the recovery of $13 billion in unused funds, which it attributes to former President Joe Biden’s energy policies, often referred to as a “green new fraud,” according to the Department of Energy (DOE).
On Wednesday, the DOE announced its intention to return this $13 billion to the Treasury, a move that aligns with the previous administration’s commitment to curtail wasteful spending and refocus on essential energy objectives. Former President Trump has publicly opposed Biden’s energy strategy, criticizing it as detrimental.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright emphasized, “Americans elected President Trump to combat the prior administration’s excessive climate spending that primarily exacerbated inflation without delivering substantial benefits.” He noted that the return of these funds reaffirms a dedication to promoting more affordable and reliable energy options while ensuring responsible use of taxpayer money.
“My Department of Energy will return over $13 billion to taxpayers, translating to more than $100 for each American family,” Wright stated during a CBS Morning Plus interview. He explained that these funds were initially intended for energy subsidies, which inadvertently led to higher electricity costs and misuse of taxpayer dollars.
Interestingly, many Democrats have distanced themselves from the Green New Deal discourse in recent months and have not sought to reintroduce related legislation.
