Trump Agrees to 3 September Debates; It’s Up to Harris to Accept or Decline

Former President Donald Trump announced he had reached an agreement with Fox News, NBC News and ABC News to host three debates in September. Now Vice President Kamala Harris’ team must decide whether to accept or reject the challenge.

Trump said at a press conference at his luxury beachfront Mar-a-Lago estate that he had reached an agreement with Fox News for the September 4 debate, which will then be broadcast on ABC News on September 10 and NBC News on September 25. He added that the NBC News debate will be “up to the network’s decision” but that there is a “pretty complete agreement.” Trump also said that the vice presidential debate will be hosted by CBS.

“These broadcasters are awaiting that day, and those days, with great anxiety,” Trump said.

“We’ve spoken with the heads of the networks and confirmed all but the very minor details of audience, location, what cities it will air in, but all of that will be worked out very easily,” he added.

Trump said the Harris team “has to agree to the terms.”

“I don’t know if they agree,” Trump said, noting that he hasn’t given an interview in the 18 days since he replaced Biden as the top candidate. “She’s barely competent and she can’t give an interview.”

But he said he looks forward to the opportunity to go head-to-head with Harris on key issues such as immigration.

“But I look forward to the debate because I think we have to get the facts straight. Why are millions of people allowed into our country from prisons, jails, psychiatric hospitals, mental hospitals and even psychiatric hospitals?” he said.

President Trump and President Joe Biden initially Agreed President Trump was scheduled to appear at an ABC News debate on September 10 but canceled the debate after a successful behind-the-scenes pressure campaign by Democratic Party officials, donors and Hollywood elites resulted in Biden being removed from the running.
