Stephen Miller Calls 2016 Election Conspiracy a “Coup”
Stephen Miller has firmly stated that the narrative surrounding Russian interference in the 2016 election isn’t just an innocent mix-up; it was, in his view, a “coup,” a “secret plot,” and a “series of serious felonies.”
This week, during an appearance on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Miller, who is the White House Vice Chief of Staff, directed strong criticism at Democrats, alleging their involvement in a long-term scheme to compromise the integrity of the election.
“This was a coup,” he asserted. “And I mean that literally.”
Miller accused high-ranking intelligence officials and Democratic leaders, including Hillary Clinton, James Clapper, and James Comey, of orchestrating this effort to undermine a duly elected president.
Trump Labels Allegations as “Serious Treason”
Beyond mere political motives, Miller suggested that their actions crossed significant legal boundaries—what he deemed as inflammatory conspiracy against the United States. He argued that these actions align with various criminal elements, including conspiracy and insurrection against the government.
“One after another, terrible felonies,” he remarked, emphasizing the gravity of the alleged charges.
Recently, Tulsi Gabbard mentioned that the narrative of Trump-Russia collusion began with prominent Democrats and members of the intelligence community, suggesting that these claims were pivotal to understanding the ongoing discourse surrounding the election.
Jonathan Tarley Discusses Key Figures in the Alleged Conspiracy
Gabbard implicated Obama and other officials in promoting a narrative that Russia intervened on Trump’s behalf, which triggered the extensive investigations into what she called a conspiracy that overshadowed Trump’s presidency. Trump described the behavior of Obama, Clapper, Brennan, and Comey as “serious treason.”
In response, Clapper and Brennan have pushed back against these accusations, arguing in a recent guest essay for The New York Times that such claims are attempts to “rewrite history.” They insisted that thorough investigations have validated the findings of Russian interference, contrary to what Miller claims.
Neither Comey nor representatives for Clinton provided comments regarding these ongoing issues.
Obama’s Spokesman Responds to Claims
Patrick Rodenbush, a spokesman for Obama, recently addressed the allegations, describing them as outrageous and indicative of a tactic meant to distract from more pressing issues. He reaffirmed the consensus that Russia did attempt to influence the election, but found no evidence of vote manipulation.
He noted that such conclusions were supported by a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report released in 2020.
