Trump and King Charles observe the Royal Guard

Trump’s State Visit to Windsor Castle

On September 17, 2025, following a royal carriage procession, U.S. President Donald Trump and King Charles III arrived at Windsor Castle, ready to inspect the royal guards.

Upon disembarking from their carriage, the king, queen, the president, and First Lady Melania Trump took their positions for the day’s proceedings.

The Honorary Guard’s Captain, Lt. Colonel Storm Green, commanded the troops with a “royal salute, present weapons.” As the U.S. national anthem played, the president saluted while Melania placed her hand over her heart.

Later, Lt. Col. Green invited President Trump to join the Nijmegen Company of the Grenadier Guards for a more detailed inspection, which featured members from the Coldstream Guards and the Scots Guards.

“The president, the Grenadier security guards, the Coldstream guards, the Scottish security guards, and you’re ready for your inspection,” Green remarked.

Trump expressed his gratitude enthusiastically after engaging with the first two soldiers. “Thank you, thank you very much,” he said.

Meanwhile, King Charles noticed how Lt. Colonel Green was showcasing the sword, lifting it with a chuckle as he made a lighthearted comment about the examination.

The day continued with the president and the king witnessing a march past performed by the artillery of the king’s royal horse.

Later, the royal family hosted President Trump and the First Lady for lunch in the state dining room.
