President Trump and first lady Melania Trump paid tribute to Pope Francis ahead of the Pope’s funeral on Saturday morning.
Trump arrived in Italy on Friday for his first international trip of his second term.
“She’s got her birthday,” Trump told Air Force 1 reporters on Friday.
“I’ll take her to dinner at Boeing,” joking Trump. “I’ll take her to dinner in Air Force 1.”
Before heading to Rome, Trump praised the late Pope as a “good man” who “loved the world.”
“I thought he was a great guy,” Trump said.
Trump and Francis had previously refrained from immigrating. In 2016, Pope Francis called the massive deportation plan “disgrace.”

The President and First Lady sat with the US delegation between Ethiopia and Esvatini, known as Swaziland.
The delegations included Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif), Tom Suzzy (DN.Y.), Laura Gillen (DN.Y.), Officer Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Edward Markey (D-Mass.).
Former President Joe Biden attended the funeral with his wife, Jill Biden.
Many other world leaders gathered at the funeral, including British Prime Minister Kier Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Ukrainian President Voldimir Zelensky.
