Trump announces he will not be at this year's Super Bowl in California after attending in 2025.

Former President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he intends to skip the upcoming Super Bowl, criticizing the halftime acts and expressing concerns over the game’s location in California, which he feels is too far. He made these remarks after attending a game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans last year.

He mentioned, “If it were a little shorter, I’d go,” reflecting on the distance.

This year’s Super Bowl is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, close to San Jose.

Trump has been vocal about his disapproval of the halftime performers, specifically targeting Bad Bunny and the band Green Day. He previously stated, “I don’t know who he is,” in reference to Bad Bunny’s selection for the show, labeling the choice as “crazy” and criticizing the promoters for diminishing the entertainment value of the event.

Green Day, similarly, was announced as a performer last week, joining Bad Bunny ahead of the kickoff. Both artists have openly expressed their negative opinions about Trump in the past.

Bad Bunny, for his part, opted to hold a residency show in Puerto Rico last fall, fearing potential detentions by ICE at U.S. events. In a song entitled “Nueva Yor,” he even said, “This country is nothing without immigrants,” emphasizing the significance of immigrant communities.

Meanwhile, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day has made harsh comparisons between Trump and historical figures like Hitler, and their band has altered lyrics during live performances to comment on current politics.

In a recent interview, Trump concluded, “I’m against them. I think it’s a terrible choice. It just instills hatred. It’s terrible.”

The Super Bowl will occur on Sunday, February 8th, and will ultimately decide the championship matchups, pitting the Seattle Seahawks against the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots against the Denver Broncos.
