Trump Nominates Lindsay Harrigan as US Lawyer in Virginia
On Saturday, President Trump revealed his nomination of Senior Aide Lindsay Harrigan for the position of US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Trump described Harrigan as a “tough, smart, loyal lawyer” who has been a long-time ally, especially in the fight against what he terms the judicial overreach by Joe Biden and left-leaning Democrats. He claimed that she stood up for his rights during challenging times. “I wrote it,” he mentioned, teasing the nomination.
Currently serving as a special assistant to the president, Harrigan has recently joined Trump’s legal team, where she has been involved in defending him in a probe concerning confidential documents.
The president praised Harrigan as “very intelligent and fearless,” emphasizing her strength and determination for the significant role ahead.
“Congratulations, Lindsay – you will do great things for justice, Virginia, and our country!” Trump further remarked.
Meanwhile, Eric Sheebert, the former US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia, stepped down on Friday amid pressures linked to the Trump administration and an inquiry into alleged mortgage fraud involving New York Attorney General Leticia James.
In a post on True Social earlier that day, Trump aired his displeasure with Sheebert, referring to him as “awakening Reno”—a nod to a Republican figure. He asserted that Sheebert was fired, rather than voluntarily resigning.
According to reports, Sheebert had recently informed a senior Justice Department official that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to charge James. Trump’s push for Sheebert’s exit grew out of frustration regarding this development.
On the same day, Trump called on Attorney General Pam Bondy to take decisive measures against opponents like James, lamenting, “nothing has been done.” He expressed concerns about the damage to reputation and credibility, emphasizing, “We can’t delay any more; they’re all sinning like hell, but have nothing to show for it.”
