Trump Appoints Mark Savaya as Special Envoy to Iraq

On Sunday, President Donald Trump announced the appointment of Mark Savaya, an entrepreneur from the Detroit area who played a significant role in mobilizing Muslim American voters, as the special envoy to Iraq. This decision highlights the administration’s efforts to engage with Middle Eastern communities in crucial battleground states.

In a message on Truth Social, Trump expressed his support for Savaya, stating that he possesses a “deep understanding of the Iraq-U.S. relationship” and has valuable regional connections to “advance the interests of the American people.” He noted Savaya’s important contributions to his campaign in Michigan, where he helped achieve record turnout among Muslim-American voters. “Congratulations, Mark!” Trump added.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for further comments regarding this appointment.

Expanding Abraham Accords Following Ceasefire

This announcement comes shortly after Trump signed a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas, which resulted in the release of the remaining living hostages and the return of some victims’ remains. Following a historic agreement that put an end to two years of conflict in Gaza, Trump celebrated what he referred to as “peace in the Middle East.”

“We finally have peace in the Middle East. This is peace in very simple terms,” Trump stated during a speech in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, alongside numerous world leaders.

He reflected on the long-awaited agreement, saying, “Today is the day that people in this region and around the world have worked, strived for, hoped for, and prayed for.” Trump emphasized that the prayers of millions have been answered with this achievement. He mentioned that mediators would soon initiate the next stages of the 20-point peace plan.

Optimism for Future Agreements

During his remarks, Trump articulated a vision that this breakthrough is not merely an end to the fighting but represents a new dawn for the entirety of the Middle East. He expressed hope that more Arab and Muslim-majority nations would join the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements establishing normalization with Israel, while critiquing the Biden administration for not expanding the accords further.

During Trump’s first term, several nations, including Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates, joined these accords. He asserted that the recent agreement marks a potential end to terrorism in the region and highlighted a desire to shift focus toward positive developments. “There are so many other great things in life,” he remarked.
