Trump appoints Rep. Mike Waltz as National Security Adviser

President-elect Trump has appointed Congressman Mike Walz (R-Florida) to join his administration as National Security Advisor.

“Mike is the first Green Beret elected to Congress and previously served in the White House and the Department of Defense,” President Trump said in a statement announcing his latest Cabinet picks. “Mike served in the Army Special Forces for 27 years, deployed to combat numerous times, and was awarded four Bronze Stars of Valor, including two for his service.”

“Mike is a retired colonel, a nationally recognized leader in the national security field, a best-selling author, and an expert on the threats posed by China, Russia, Iran, and global terrorism.” the statement added. “He serves as a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Mike is a distinguished graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with honors. He will be a great champion of an America First foreign policy and the pursuit of peace through force! ”
