Federal Judge Blocks Troop Deployment in Portland
On Saturday, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order preventing President Trump from sending the National Guard to Portland, attempting to shield federal agents from violent confrontations with Black Bloc extremists surrounding ICE facilities each night.
Judge Michael Simon, appointed by Obama, seemed swayed by arguments from an attorney in Oregon, suggesting that the situation was peaceful.
This claim contradicts videos from Fox News and various “civic journalists” that show violence, as Antifa mobs disrupt traffic while waiting for federal agents, attacking journalists and Portland police.
In reality, the Portland Police Department has remained inactive, seen collecting complaints from individuals identifying as Antifa who allege they are being victimized by federal agents.
Court documents related to the lawsuit in Oregon indicate that officers feigned a lack of resources when requested for backup.
One civic journalist, Katie Davistour, suffered injuries after being attacked with a flagpole by an Antifa member, yet the police overlooked her pleas for assistance.
Conversely, the following night, her colleague Nick was arrested for disorderly conduct after engaging in a one-sided confrontation with a group of extremists who knocked him down and damaged his camera.
After a night spent in jail, Nick described the Portland detention center as “strangely empty” since criminals aren’t being arrested.
He questioned, “If my actions were disorderly, how would you label someone shouting through a megaphone and setting fires early in the morning?”
Even with Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem indicating that her officers were under duress from local Democrats, facing threats like a $10,000 bounty for their actions, it seems the Portland police are aligned with federal interests.
This backdrop is what prompted President Trump to send troops to Portland, choosing to sidestep Judge Simon’s order by deploying California State Guard Forces instead.
It shouldn’t be so complicated for the President to carry out the responsibilities for which he was elected.
