Trump at NCAA wrestling championships: What to know

President Donald Trump is attending the final round of the 2024-25 NCAA Wrestling Championship held in Philadelphia on Saturday.

For the president, it marks another halt on his tour of major sporting events, a presidency focused on sports.

Trump will be there to potentially witness the history of sports. Pennsylvania is looking to expand its winning streak to four straight national titles. This is the third time Pennsylvania has won its fourth consecutive championship since 2011. Only Iowa and Ohio had suspended control of the Nittany Lions.

Penn State is also in the driver's seat, leading 169 points and 60 points ahead of second-placed Nebraska.

“We're going to be a big fight. … They have NCAA, world, wrestling for college, and I've always supported wrestlers,” Trump told reporters outside the White House on Friday. “So I want to support them. These are great college wrestlers from different schools. I think Pennsylvania is leading and Nebraska is in second place right now.

Outkick co-founder Clay Travis broke the news that Trump will be attending the event on Tuesday when he said in a post on X that he will travel to the championship with the president.

The White House confirmed Friday that Trump will be attending the event.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and R. Ohio are reportedly also involved in Trump in Philadelphia, a source familiar with his plans. Talking to Fox News Digital.

The LA Times writer suggests that the World Series champion Dodgers should skip their White House visit: “Thank you, but no.”

Jordan is a wrestling champion at the high school and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, winning the NCAA Division I Men's Wrestling title twice. He later served as assistant coach of Ohio State's wrestling program from 1987 to 1995.

Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) will also be tagged. McCormick previously confirmed that Trump will be attending the event at the Senator's home. Pennsylvania.

This will mark the second time President Donald Trump has participated in the NCAA Wrestling Championship in three years. He also attended in 2023 at Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Trump has been seen in several different sporting events since winning the November election.

Trump attended the Daytona 500 in February and became the first president to attend two Daytona 500 races at Daytona International Speedway. He first entered the race in February 2020.

Trump took part in the Prelus festivities and rode the “beast” for a lap before the race, but he had a special message to the drivers broadcast on their radio.

At the beginning of February, Trump became the first president to attend the Super Bowl. As Trump was shown at the stadium, loud cheers were heard on a Fox broadcast from the crowd.

In December, Trump attended the 125th edition of the Army-Nabee match, where he was director of Vice President J.D. Vance, House Speaker, Sen. Mike Johnson, Sen. John Toon, Secretary of Defense and Director of National Intelligence Tarshi Gabbard.

Trump took part in the annual rivalry game through his first presidency, first attended in 2016, shortly after winning that year's election. He also participated in the game in 2020 for the presidency at West Point.

He attended UFC 309 weeks after President Trump won the election of Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

Trump was sitting with Cageside and with the likes of Health and Human Services Secretaries Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump Jr.

John Jones defeated Stipe Miocic with a knockout, making Trump's signature dance moves, pointing to Trump and giving Trump the UFC heavyweight championship belt.
