Trump attorney Alina Habba expects to be hit with 'onslaught of litigation' before election

President Trump's lawyer Alina Habba said in an interview Thursday that she expects to be hit with an “onslaught of lawsuits” with less than 35 days until the presidential election.

Haba made the remarks in the context of comments on Special Counsel Jack Smith's 165-page filing unsealed by a federal court in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. The Trump campaign argued that Smith's charges against Trump for his actions on January 6, 2021, were political.

Haba called the Justice Department's actions “desperate” in an interview with Fox News' Jesse Watters.

“The Department of Justice is complicit, and we've said this many times, but Americans, please pay attention. There are more than 30 days until the election. We will be hit by an onslaught of fake news. We're going to be hit with an onslaught of lawsuits,” Haba told Watters.

“There is one thing we must understand, and this is called despair,” Haba added.

The 165-page filing, unsealed Wednesday, provides new information about the former president's efforts to influence election officials in key battleground states to overturn election results in his favor. The details were revealed.

Smith's filing comes after the Supreme Court ruled that former presidents retain immunity when exercising core constitutional powers and have presumptive immunity for all other official functions. has paved the way for an election interference lawsuit against Trump.

Although President Trump has repeatedly criticized Smith and said he is a political victim, there is no evidence that President Biden or Vice President Harris are involved in Smith's efforts.
