Trump Endorses Saritha Komatireddy in New York Attorney General Race

New York’s Attorney General Letitia James is facing a staunch challenge from Saritha Komatireddy, a Republican backed by former President Donald Trump. In a recent Truth Social post, Trump expressed his “full and complete support” for Komatireddy as she aims to unseat her longtime adversary.

“It is my great honor to endorse America First Patriot Saritha Komatireddy, who is running to be the next Attorney General of the once great state of New York,” Trump stated. He also voiced strong criticism of James, calling her “the most corrupt attorney general in the land” and highlighted the tensions between James and Governor Kathy Hochul.

Komatireddy, whom Trump nominated for a judicial position in 2020, is stepping into this race amid James’ ongoing legal pursuits related to mortgage fraud, adding more layers to their political rivalry. James has been a prominent figure in antagonizing Trump and his organization.

In 2022, James successfully sued Trump, alleging that he inflated asset values to secure loans. However, a later appeals court decision reversed a substantial financial penalty against Trump, which had been imposed by James.

Trump didn’t hold back in his critique of James. He referred to her as “Letitia Peekaboo James,” arguing that she is one of the worst attorneys general in U.S. history. He recalled her unsuccessful attempt to challenge Hochul in the gubernatorial race, noting she received less than 1% of poll support. The former president also accused her of neglecting rising crime rates in New York while pursuing his alleged “witch hunt.”

On the other hand, Trump painted a positive picture of Komatireddy, mentioning her experience as a former federal prosecutor and her time leading the Drug Enforcement Administration. He emphasized that Komatireddy would prioritize law and order, economic growth, and the defense of constitutional rights if elected.

Komatireddy, noticeably critical of James’ management of the fraud case against Trump, thanked the former president for his endorsement. She conveyed her commitment to securing victory against James in the upcoming election, stating she has the support of New Yorkers.
