Trump Ballot Removal ‘Makes Us Look Like a Banana Republic’

On FNC's “The Story” Wednesday, independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. criticized decision-makers in Colorado and Maine for removing former President Donald Trump from the presidential primary ballot. .

“Before we talk about the Supreme Court, I just want to ask you one question about today's news: Colorado and Maine may also take up the issue of excluding former President Trump from their votes. This effort…” FNC host Martha McCallum said. “What do you think about efforts to remove a former president from the vote based on unindicted sedition charges?”

“I think that's wrong,” Kennedy replied. “I think it's counterproductive. I'm not a fan of President Trump, so I'm going to oppose him. But I don't want to — and I'm confident in defeating him. I don't want to win. I think the American people want a fair fight. They want debate, they want true democracy. They want the president to choose the nominees instead of letting the courts choose them. And as you pointed out, I've read the ruling, and it doesn't make sense to me that we can take this right away from Americans. There is no precedent for not indicting him on anything less than a conviction for sedition. He was not even indicted for that.”

“You know, this seems to violate due process and makes us look like a banana republic,” he added. “I think that's going to hurt the people behind it, by the way. It's made Trump such that people know it's unfair and amplify it. , I think they've turned him into a mythical figure. I think that's very short-sighted and wrong and un-American.”
