Trump Believes Charlie Kirk’s Suspected Attacker Was Influenced by the Internet

Oval Office –

President Donald Trump shared his views with the Daily Caller on Monday, expressing his belief that the individual accused of attempting to assassinate Charlie Kirk has strong left-leaning radical tendencies online.

In the wake of Kirk’s murder, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is delving into potential links between the incident and various left-wing groups in Utah. Trump remarked during the conversation that he was uncertain about whether the suspect acted alone, commenting on the apparent radicalization evident in the suspect’s online activity.

“The FBI is looking into the possible involvement of left-leaning organizations in these acts of violence. I wonder if the person responsible for Charlie Kirk’s situation is working solo,” he said.

“I really can’t say, but it seems unlikely. Online, he definitely didn’t operate in isolation. He has shown signs of being radicalized through his internet use,” Trump added.

“It appears he was influenced and changed, perhaps significantly, in a relatively short timeframe,” he continued, noting the suspect’s otherwise positive background and those around him.

Trump reiterated, “Clearly, he’s been radicalized. He’s leaning left, and, well, there are many problematic views within that group. He shouldn’t receive protection.”

Kirk, 31, lost his life while engaging with a student at Utah Valley University. The FBI apprehended 22-year-old Tyler Robinson two days later, suspecting his involvement in the assassination.

Reports suggest that Robinson might have confessed his crime during an online chat shortly before his arrest, as detailed by the Washington Post, which referenced direct screenshots and insider accounts.

Robinson allegedly communicated in a chat hours prior to turning himself in, expressing, “Guys, I have bad news for you. I was [at UVU] yesterday. So sorry for all of this.” He also mentioned surrendering.

Discord had previously informed the Daily Caller News Foundation that it found no evidence of any premeditated violence associated with Robinson’s activities on their platform.

“It’s evident to us and to investigators that this individual is deeply influenced by leftist ideologies,” noted Republican Utah Governor Spencer Cox in a statement to the Wall Street Journal regarding Robinson.
