The Air Force has fired its top official overseeing the costly Sentinel nuclear missile program, which is currently under investigation by the Pentagon for ballooning costs. Maj. Gen. John Newberry, commander of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, fired Col. Charles Clegg, The Hill confirmed on Wednesday. Clegg took the job in August 2022 and served less than two years in the role overseeing the Sentinel program, which began in 2021.
