WASHINGTON, D.C. – The widow of Corey Comperator, the Pennsylvania man who was tragically killed by a bullet meant for President Donald Trump at a rally in July, says what Trump called “every day for almost two weeks” after the shooting. Said.
Helen Comperatore was joined by the couple's adult daughters, Alison and Kaylee Comperatore, who gave heartfelt remarks about Corey at Saturday's pre-inauguration Patriot Awards.
“We left as a family of three,” a grieving wife said as she recalled the terrifying moment a 20-year-old gunman fatally shot her husband at an event in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“My husband was so excited when we arrived at the rally on July 13th. He absolutely loved Trump. It was all he talked about and you know and won. And , when we left, we left this family of three,'' Helen told the crowd of honorees and supporters at the ceremony.
“When he was shot, my two children witnessed it. We were all together. I will never forget the look on my oldest son's face, cradling his head and seeing someone Wrapped in a towel that she had thrown us, she said, “Mom, please help me,'' she emotionally recalled.
The pair were high school sweethearts and had been married for nearly 30 years before Corey's tragic murder.
“And I'll never forget her face. It's been a long road.” Before Helen said she got a “hate email” from then-President Joe Biden after he refused to call her. continued.
“The community was amazing…I got cards from all over the United States. I got hate mail, and I refused to take Biden's call the next day, so the hate mail kept coming. “I did,” she said.
“There were two Secret Service people on the roof right behind us, and he got off nine shots. Nine before they got one off. It just disgusts me that they allowed that to happen and that they're going to pay for it,” she continued. “And I'm going to fight for my husband because he deserves justice. He deserves the world. He was a hero before this happened, and he's definitely a hero now.”
