Former President Trump slammed President Biden on Monday night after his victory in the Iowa caucuses, calling the Democrat “the worst president ever.”
President Trump said of Biden after the Republican victory: “I don't want to be too rough with the president, but I have to say he's the worst president in the history of our country. He's destroyed our country.'' I'm doing it,” he said. He received 51% of the vote in Iowa.
Trump went on to argue that former President Carter, widely criticized for his poor economic response that led to high inflation and high unemployment, as well as the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, was “great in comparison.”
He added, “You know, my wife went to Rosalynn Carter's funeral two months ago, and it was so beautiful. And Jimmy Carter was there, too. And I thought, Jimmy Carter is now… I'm happy because he's going to go down as a good president,” compared to Joe Biden. He's going to be a great president,” Trump continued. “He will be known as superior in comparison.”

The comments came after Trump led Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Gov. Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy and other 2024 Republican candidates in the nation's first nomination race. With this victory, Trump secured the first 20 delegates in the race for the Republican nomination.
In his speech, the former president also said he would prioritize securing borders. This issue ranked No. 1 among Iowa voters, even surpassing the No. 2 economy.

“We're going to close our borders because right now we're being invaded and millions of people are coming into our country. Why do they think it's a good thing?” “I can't imagine thinking that. It's so bad,” he said.

President Trump then claimed that “hundreds of terrorists” were crossing the southern border into the United States.
“No one knows where they are, which is not a good thing, and we're going to have to deport them,” the Republican said. “In fact, it will be a level of deportation that this country hasn't seen in a long time, since Dwight Eisenhower.”
“We must stop the aggression,” he added.

“So we're heading to New Hampshire. It's a great place,” he said Monday. “We won last time, but we wanted to win both times and we love it. The people of our country are amazing. They are amazing. The only thing they want is for us to win. It's that the country wants to come back. They're embarrassed by it.” “What's going on? They are making a mockery of us and want our country back.”
He won the state in 2016 and is seeking to become the second Republican in history to win the presidential seat, winning both Iowa and New Hampshire. Ted Cruz narrowly defeated Trump in Iowa in 2016, denying him early victories in both states.
